A recording medium according to claim 1 wherein a layer of Si0 2 is interposed between said substrate and said compound.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
18 words
A recording medium according to claim 1 wherein said recording layer is 800 to 1100° angstroms in thickness.
Claim 6
Independent Claim
79 words
A method of recording information, the method comprising providing a recording medium having a thin film recording layer, heating said layer by means of a laser beam until said compound crystallizes, and transforming the crystallized material into the amorphous state by heating with a laser beam in accordance with the intelligence to be recorded thereby producing an optical information bit, characterised in that said layer is composed of an SbSe compound containing from 58 to 85 atomic % Sb.
Claim 7
Independent Claim
79 words
A method of recording information, the method comprising providing a recording medium having a thin film recording layer, heating said layer by means of a laser beam until said compound crystallizes, and transforming the crystallized material into the amorphous state by heating with a laser beam in accordance with the intelligence to be recorded thereby producing an optical information bit, characterised in that said layer is composed of an SbSe compound containing from 58 to 85 atomic % Sb.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
29 words
A method according to claim 5 wherein said layer is on a disc which is rotated at a lower speed during crystallization than when recording in the amorphous state.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
22 words
A method according to claim 6 which includes the step of erasing the recording by reverting said layer to the crystallized state.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
46 words
A method according to claim 5 wherein the time of heating to the crystallization state is greater than the time required for crystallization, and the material is heated above the melting temperature and cooled to the crystallization temperature in a shorter time than required for crystallization.
