Abstract
Abstract The monochromator presents, in the plane of the slit (5), a mirror (6) which reflects the radiations comprised within the spectrum portion selected by the slit (5) towards the grating (3) dispersing a non-monochromatic beam. The radiations reflected recombine into a single, substantially monochromatic beam on the grating (3), and a suitable optical system (7, 8) focuses such a beam forming the substantially monochromatic image of the source (1).

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim
117 words
A monochromator comprising a first optical system (2) apt to collimate a non-monochromatic light beam emitted by a source (1) upon beam dispersing means (3) and a second optical system (4) which focuses the dispersed beam on an image plane where a slit (5) of adjustable width allows a substantially monochromatic portion of the spectrum of the source (1) to be isolated, characterized in that a first reflect element (6) is located in the plane of the slit (5) to reflect the radiations belonging to said spectrum portion towards the second optical system (4) and the dispersing means (3) said dispersing means (3) recombining_the reflected radiations into a single beam to form a substantially monochromatic source image.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
23 words
Monochromator according to claim 1, characterized in that said dispersing means (3) is placed at focal distance from the second optical system (4).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
39 words
Monochromator according to claim 2, characterized in that the dispersing means (3) is mounted on a support allowing its rotation about an axis belonging to the dispersing means and located at focal distance from the second optical system (4).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
71 words
Monochromator according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that said source (1) and said first optical system (2) ar placed so that the collimated beam is collected -by a first portion of the surface of the dispersing means (3) and the radiations reflected by the first reflecting element (6) recombine onto a second portion of the surface of said dispersing means (3), distinct from the first one.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
43 words
Monochromator according to claim 4, characterized in that a second reflecting element (7) is located on the trajectory of the recombined beam to send such a beam to a third optical system (8) which forms the substantially monochromatic image of the source (1).
