Abstract

Abstract A circuit arrangement for operating a high-pressure discharge lamp with a battery is specified, the battery voltage being converted by a transistorised voltage converter and a transformer connected downstream into the supply voltage for the discharge lamp. The secondary winding of the transformer is designed to generate the operating voltage for the igniter unit connected in parallel with the high-pressure discharge lamp, and the secondary winding contains a tapping for picking off the discharge lamp operating voltage, which is lower than the operating voltage for the igniter unit, means being provided for operation of a changeover switch which switches the supply voltage from the operating voltage for the igniter unit to the burning voltage for the discharge lamp, after ignition of the discharge lamp. <IMAGE>
