Abstract

Abstract A projector for producing a uniformly illuminated remote light spot of polarised light which can be used for biostimulation. The projector comprises a box-like housing (1) in which a metal halogen lamp (2) is arranged with upwardly directed diverging beams. A Fresnel lens (3) is arranged in an upper opening of the housing to direct the light beams in a parallel bundle towards a Brewster polariser (4) which is hingedly connected to the upper portion of the housing. The polarised light reflected from the polariser propagates in a parallel bundle and the beam collimation is sufficiently correct for illumination from distances of up to 3 m.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 154 words
Projector for producing a light spot of polarised light for biostimulation purposes, comprising a lamp (2), a reflector (2a) associated with and arranged behind the lamp for reflecting the light beams in a forward direction and a Brewster polariser (4) arranged in the beam path of the lamp, characterised in that said reflector (2a) is arranged behind said lamp (2) to provide diverging forward beams, that said lamp (2) has a power in the range of several hundred watts, and that a Fresnel lens (3) is inserted in the path between the Brewster polariser (4) and the lamp (2) so that the lamp lies substantially in the focal zone of the Fresnel lens (3), whereby the diverging forward beams of the lamp form a bundle of parallel beams impinging the Brewster polariser, in which the cross-sectional area of the parallel polarised light bundle is in the order of some hundreds of cm 2 .
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 154 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 19 words
The projector as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that said lamp (2) is an overhead projector halogen lamp.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 54 words
The projector as claimed in claim 2, characterised in that it comprises a rectangular housing (1) for locating said lamp which is positioned to have upwardly directed main beams, that said housing defines an opening in the top wall, and that said Fresnel lens (3) is attached to said housing to cover said opening.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 27 words
The projector as claimed in claim 3, characterised in that it further comprises a fan (10) arranged in said housing (1) to provide air-cooling for'said lamp (2).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 49 words
-5. The projector as claimed in claim 3 or 4, characterised in that said Brewster p o-lariser (4) comprises a number of spaced parallel glass plates (6) fixed in a rectangular frame (4), and that said frame is hingedly connected to a rear upper edge portion of said housing.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 57 words
The projector as claimed in claim 5, characterised in that said frame comprises supporting rods (2) pivoted at their upper ends to said frame (4) and being releasably engageable with said housing (1), said rods having a length which ensures that the angular position of said plates relative to said parallel beams corresponds to the Brewster angle.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 37 words
The projector as claimed in claim 5 or 6, characterised in that it further comprises position setting means coupled to said housing for desired setting and fixing of the polarised parallel beams reflected from the Brewster polariser.
