Abstract

Abstract A wet friction material for use in brake and clutch plates of a large sized construction vehicle which possesses porosity in the range of 2 to 85 %, preferably 9 to 72 %. The material is formed by preparing a matrix of heat-resistant fibers in the form of felt, impregnating said matrix with heat-resistant resin capable of acquiring, on curing, a smaller modulus of compressive elasticity than the fibers, and thereafter curing the impregnant in the resultant composite.
