Total heart prosthesis having two decoupled pumps forming a functionally undissociable unit, and electrocontrolled valves for such a prosthesis
Abstract
Abstract Translated from French Prothèse cardiaque totale destinée à remplacer un cœur humain malade. Total heart prosthesis intended to replace a sick human heart. According to the invention, this prosthesis comprises a pericardial module (3) and an extra-pericardial module (4), incorporating their own electromechanical pumping system and connected to each other by a blood and gas connection (5). The pericardial module acts as the right heart, and the extra-pericardial module as the left heart.
