Abstract

Method and device for attaching a thin electrically conductive wire, in particular aluminum wire (11), to electrical contact points or surfaces (12, 14) (bonding) of electrical or electronic components (16), in particular microchips or semiconductor components. For this purpose, the wire (11) is briefly pressed against the contact point or surface (12, 14) by means of an ultrasound-excited bond stamp (wedge 10) and then at a short distance from the wire feed side (15) of the "wedge "(10) opposite side (17) separated. In order to avoid a wire tail (TL) extending beyond the bond length (BL), a wire clamp (21) is provided on the wire feed side of the "wedge" (10), by means of which the wire (11) after separation and before re-bonding Moved back at least as far, preferably withdrawn, that its free end is approximately flush with the side (17) opposite the wire feed side (15) of the "wedge" (10).
