Abstract
Abstract In a compact disc player (1 A) in order to protect a disc (D) upon unloading and loading, at least one pair of rollers (40a, 40b) is provided for holding therebetween and transporting the disc (D) inserted thereinto. The rollers (40a, 40b) are of tapered shape, so that the diameter of each roller (40a, 40b) is relatively small over a central portion thereof and gradually increases therefrom to each end, so each roller (40a, 40b) contacts only with the peripheral edge portion of the inserted disc (D).

79 words
1 A disc player (lA) in which a disc (D) inserted into an insertion opening (2) at the front of the disc player (lA) is gripped by a pair of rollers (40a,40b) at least one of which is driven by a drive source (51) to locate said disc (D) on a disc table (38); characterised in that: each said roller (40a,40b) is of relatively small diameter at its central portion and of gradually increasing diameter towards each end thereof.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
39 words
2 A disc player according to claim 1 wherein each of said rollers (40a,40b) is formed as a tapered-shape and the diameter thereof becomes gradually larger from a constant diameter central portion in the directions of both ends thereof.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
95 words
3 A disc player according to claim 1 or claim 2 wherein a lower roller (40b) of said pair of rollers (40a,40b) is rotatably attached to a support plate (47,47',47") which is rotatably supported by a chassis (10), a drive motor (51) for rotatably driving said lower roller (40b) is attached to said support plate (47,47',47"), and a separable member (58a) controlled by an electromagnetic means (61) to be separable from a rotating member (56) which is pivoted to said support plate (47,47',47") and rotated by said motor (51) is provided on said chassis (10).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
30 words
4 A disc player according to claim 4 wherein said rotating member (56) rotated by said motor (51) is a gear (56) and said separable member is a rack (58a).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
33 words
5 A disc player according to claim 1 wherein at least one (40b) of said rollers (40a,40b) comprises a rotary shaft (45b) and a resilient member (40b) attached to said rotary shaft (45b).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
37 words
6 A disc player according to claim 5 wherein said rotary shaft (45b) and said resilient member (40b) are frictionally engaged with each other and are arranged to slip relatively when an excessive load is applied thereto.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
70 words
7 A disc player according to claim 3 wherein said separable member (58a) has formed thereon an engaging groove (58c) which is engaged with an engaging portion (62) formed on said support plate (47,47',47") when said separable member (58a) contacts said rotating member (56), and said separable member (58a) is biased by spring means in the direction in which said separable member (58a) is engaged with said rotating member (56).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
107 words
8 A disc player according to claim 3 wherein an openable and closable lid (6) is provided for opening and closing said insertion opening (2) formed at said front of said disc player (lA), and a lock mechanism (7) is provided for rotatably supporting said openable and closable lid (6) and locking said openable and closable lid (6) at a closed position, said lock mechanism (7) releasing its locking state on the basis of an operation of a plunger solenoid (25) which is operated by a switch (SI) responsive to movement of said openable and closable lid (6) when pushed by the insertion of said disc (D).
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
27 words
9 A disc player according to claim 8 wherein said openable and closable lid (6) is opened and closed by an operation of said plunger solenoid (25).
