Abstract

In a drawing system in which a large number of synthetic threads are heated and drawn, there is a need to brake the drawing system very quickly in the event of thread breakage and to interrupt the heating of the thread sheet which is still threaded for the duration of the standstill. The task is to also prevent the heating of the drafting rollers, which are partly wrapped in the thread coulter. This is done on the one hand by insulation, and on the other hand by cooling the rolls. In order to isolate the heating roller during standstill, the segment of a cylinder jacket is pivotally mounted, specifically in a pivot axis which is arranged parallel to the roller axis and preferably eccentrically to it. The cylinder jacket segment extends over the entire length of the roller. It has a swivel drive. The swivel drive is activated when the thread breaks and the brake is engaged and swivels the segment into the thread path. The segment is taken along by the thread sheet so far that it covers the roller. An alternative or additional measure provides for the roller to be actively cooled by a coolant flowing in when the thread breaks and the brakes are engaged. For this purpose, the heating medium is exchanged for a cooling medium at a standstill. The effect of any remaining heat can be eliminated by turning the drafting system back so far that stretched thread areas are brought into contact with the heating roller.
