Abstract
Abstract Phthalocyanin derivatives which can be used to differern tiate basophils from other blood cells, are quaternary salts of the formula: wherein each of A 1 ,A 2 .A 3 and A 4 is independently hydrogen, sulfonate, hydroxyl, cyano, or a C 1 -C 7 hydrocarbon, optionally containing at least one hetroatom, with the proviso that at least one of A 1 ,A 2 ,A 3 and A 4 is in which R 1 ,R 2 and R 3 are each independently a lower alkyl, cycloalkyl or olefin of which at least one is C 2 -C 4 and two may join to form a ring; R 4 is hydrogen or a C 1 -C 3 alkyl; n is an integerfrom 2 to 6; M is a polyvalent metal ion; and X- is a water soluble anion.
