Abstract

Abstract Thermoplastic compositions based on polyphenylenether resins, endowed with improved mechanical, thermal and solvent-resistance characteristics, comprising, for 100 parts by weight of polyphenylenether resin: -from 0 to 90 parts by weight of a thermoplastic polymer otherthan polystyrene and incompatible with such resin, and - from 1 to 90 parts by weight of a polymeric compatibility-promoting agent comprising one or more blocks of vinylaromatic monomeric units compatible with the polyphenylenether resin, and one or more blocks of unit monomers which are reactive with and/or of the same kind as or, in the polymeric state, compatible with the thermoplastic polymer, or compatible with such polymer.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 103 words
Thermoplastic compositions based on polyphenylenether resins, comprising, for 100 parts by weight of polyphenylenether resin: a) from 0 to 90 parts by weight of a thermoplastic polymer, other than polystyrene, incompatible with the polyphenylenether resin, and b) from 1 to 90 parts by weight of a compatibility--promoting agent consisting of a polymer including one or more blocks of vinylaromatic monomeric units compatible with the polyphenylenether resin, and one or more blocks of unit monomers which are reactive with and/or of the same kind as or, in the polymeric state, compatible with the thermoplastic polymer as per point (a), or compatible with such polymer.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 103 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 22 words
The compositions according to claim 1, in which the compatibility-promoting agent is in amounts ranging from 10 to 40 parts by weight.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 43 words
The compositions according to claim 1 including, for 100 parts by weight of polyphenylenether resin : from 0 to 50 parts of thermoplastic polymer (a), from 5 to 20 parts of compatibility-promoting agent (b) and from 0 to 50 parts of impact-proof polystyrene.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 48 words
The compositions according to claims 1 to 3, in which the thermoplastic polymer is an olefinic polymer and the compatibility-promoting agent is a block copolymer AB, wherein A is a block of styrene units and B is a crystalline block deriving from an olefin C 2 -C 6'
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 39 words
The compositions according to claims 1 to 3, in which the thermoplastic polymer is an olefinic polymer and the compatibility-promoting agent is a grafting polymer of styrene onto a crystalline polymer of an olefin C 2 -C 6 .
