Device for the injection of fuel into combustion chambers of internal-combustion engines
Abstract
Device for injecting fuel into combustion chambers of internal combustion engines, with an injection nozzle (10), which is followed by an incandescent body (40) through which the spray jets pass under preheating and premixing with combustion air. The heating element (42) of the incandescent body (40) is connected in series with an electrical resistor (52) which has a positive temperature coefficient (PTC resistance) and is exposed to the radiation from the heating element (42). After the start-up phase of the machine, the resistor (52) limits the heat radiation of the heating element (42) on the front side of the injection nozzle (10) to a harmless value. The resistance body (52) can advantageously be designed as a slide arranged between the injection nozzle (10) and the incandescent body (40) and thereby additionally perform the function of a heat shield for the injection nozzle (10).
