Abstract

Abstract An image display apparatus uses a frame memory (10) as an image data storage section for storing original data prior to image processing and a display memory (11) for storing display image data. Image data transfer from the frame memory (10) to the display memory (11) is performed by a memory controller (15) in accordance with a DMA (direct memory access) scheme. The image data transfer is performed through a data conversion memory (7) which is programmable under the control of a CPU, thereby performing data conversion as image processing. The data transfer by the memory controller (15) is performed such that at least a desired part of the image data from the frame memory (10) is transferred to the display memory (11) through the data conversion memory (7) in response to an address signal synchronized with a sync signal used for reading out the image data from the display memory (11) and displaying the image data on a display unit.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 183 words
An image display apparatus characterized by comprising: a frame memory (10) for storing first image data; data converting means (7) for storing a data conversion table for converting the first image data to second image data which is processed data and for generating the second image data in response to the first image data read out from said frame memory (10); a display memory (11) for storing the second image data transferred from said data converting means (7); displaying means for reading out the second image data from said display memory (11) in response to a synchronizing signal; address signal generating means (15), responsive to a readout operation of the second image data from said display memory (11), for generating a read address . signal corresponding to at least part of the first image data stored in said frame memory (10); and data transferring means for reading out the first image data from said frame memory (10) in response to the read address signal and for writing the second image data read out from said data converting means in said display memory (11).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 183 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said data converting means (7) stores a data conversion table which is programable by an external circuit.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 38 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said data converting means (7) comprises a memory for storing a value of the second image data at an address corresponding to a value of the first image data.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 33 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, characterized by further comprising means for externally setting an area of an image corresponding to the read address signal generated by said address signal generating means (15).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 20 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said display means displays an image in accordance with non-interlaced scanning.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 20 words
An apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that said display means displays an image in accordance with interlaced scanning.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 25 words
An apparatus according to claim 6, characterized in that said display memory (11) comprises an even-field memory element (lla) and an odd-field memory element (llb).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 33 words
An apparatus according to claim 7, characterized in that said address signal generating means (15) generates an even-field address during an even-field display period and an odd-field address during an odd-field display period.
