Abstract

Abstract A contact unit having generally a plurality of contact assemblies (25) carried on a mounting board (15) therefor is provided. The contact assemblies (25) are each adjustably positionable along the length of one of a plurality of slots (16) provided in the mounting board (15). The slots (16) generally form a series of parallel slots and the contact assemblies (25) have bodies (28) which can be fixed to the mounting board in any required position preferably by gluing, adhesive, fusion or welding. The contacts of the assemblies may thus be adjusted in one direction on the mounting board by movement along a slot (16) and in the opposite direction by selection of a slot (16) for co-operation with specific zones of conductive areas (2) on a juxtaposed member (1).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 32 words
A contact unit comprising a base in the form of a mounting board, at least two slots in the mounting board, and a contact assembly adjustably positionable in either of said slots.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 32 words
A contact unit comprising a base in the form of a mounting board, at least two slots in the mounting board, and a contact assembly adjustably positionable in either of said slots.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 25 words
A contact unit as claimed in claim 1 in which two or more contact assemblies are each associated with a slot in the mounting board.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 23 words
3 . A contact unit as claimed in either of claims 1 or 2 in which the slots are parallel to each other.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
A contact unit as claimed in claim 3 in which a series of parallel slots are provided in the mounting board.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 25 words
5 . A contact unit as claimed in any one of the preceding claims in which the mounting board is made of electrically insulating material.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 42 words
A contact unit as claimed in any one of the preceding claims in which each of said contact assemblies embodies a part capable of being fixed to the mounting board by glue, adhesive, fusion, or welding of any type (including solvent welding).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 37 words
A contact unit as claimed in claim 6 in which the contact assemblies have, subsequent to adjustment of the position thereof, been fixed relative to the mounting board by gluing, adhesive, fusion or welding (including solvent wleding).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 27 words
A contact unit as claimed in any one of the preceding claims in which each contact assembly comprises a spring biased contact projecting through the associated slot.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 40 words
A contact unit as claimed in any one of the preceding claims in which the contact itself is carried by a body which attaches to the mounting board by way of a foot portion which passes through the associated slot.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 30 words
A contact unit as claimed in claim 9 in which the foot portion has outwardly directed catch formations co-operating with the undersurface of the mounting board adjacent the slot edges.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 24 words
A contact assembly particularly adapted for co-operation with a mounting board to form a contact unit as claimed in any-one of the preceding claims.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 30 words
A mounting board adapted to define, in combination with one or more contact assemblies according to claim 11, a contact. unit as claimed in any of claims 1 to 10.
