Abstract
Abstract The invention provides an L-shaped connector for connecting a high voltage electric cable to a bushing of a transformer, switchgear, or other electrical apparatus. A first arm of the connector is tapered to be a push-fit on to the bushing, and the other arm has a heat-shrinkable tubing integral therewith for receiving, and sealing on to, a stripped cable. Electrical connection to the cable is made completely within the insulating body of the connector, by a screw-threaded pin that is accessed through the first arm of the connector.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
90 words
A connector suitable for connecting a high voltage electric cable to electrical apparatus, the connector comprising: an electrically insulating body having a first socket for receiving an electrical terminal of the apparatus, and a recoverable second socket for receiving a stripped end of the cable; and electrically conductive means for providing a conductive path between the first and second sockets thereby, in use, to provide electrical interconnection between the cable and the terminal of the apparatus, the electrically conductive means being contained wholly within the insulating body of the connector.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
24 words
A connector according to claim 1, wherein the second socket comprises a non-recoverable portion and is recoverable only at a tubular end portion thereof.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
23 words
A connector according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the first and second sockets of the insulating body are integral with one another.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
23 words
A connector according to claim 2, wherein the first socket and the non-recoverable portion of the second socket are integral with one another.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
25 words
A connector according to claim 4, wherein the recoverable tubular portion of the second socket is moulded at one end thereof into the non-recoverable portion.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
39 words
A connector according to claim 2, 4 or 5, wherein one end of the recoverable tubular portion is recovered on to a tubular support member, and said one end and said support member are moulded into the non-recoverable portion.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
28 words
A connector according to any preceding claim, comprising a further socket suitable for providing access to the electric cable that is introduced, in use, into the second socket.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
117 words
A connector suitable for connecting a high voltage electric cable to electrical apparatus, the connector comprising an electrically insulating body that has a first socket for receiving an electrical terminal of the apparatus, a second socket for receiving a stripped end of the cable, electrically conductive means arranged to be retained within the insulating body and to provide a conductive path between the first and second sockets thereby, in use, to provide electrical interconnection between the cable and the terminal of the apparatus, and an electrically insulating recoverable tubular portion that is integral with the insulating body and that extends outwardly beyond the second socket for sealingly enclosing the electric cable received, in use, by the connector.
Claim 10
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
