Abstract
Abstract A marker sleeve assembly comprises a web of heat-recoverable polymeric material bonded to itself or to at least one other polymeric web along a number of transverse seams (2,6, 10a, 10b) to define a plurality of open-ended, radially inwardly heat-recoverable marker sleeves 4, 7, 12 disposed in side-by-side relationship. The seams (2, 6, 10a, 10b) provide lines of weakness to enable the marker sleeves (4, 7, 12) to be removed. Also, the assembly includes a retaining spine that extends along an edge of the assembly and enables individual sleeves to be removed without disturbing the sequence of the remaining sleeves.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim
78 words
A marker sleeve assembly comprising a web (la,5,8a) of heat-recoverable polymeric material that is bonded to itself or to at least one other polymeric web (lb,8b-8d) along a plurality of longitudinally spaced-apart transversely extending seams (2,6,10a,10b) to define a plurality of open-ended radially inwardly heat-recoverable marker sleeves (4,7,12) disposed in side-by-side relationship, the seams (2,6,10a,10b) providing lines of weakness to facilitate detachment of individual sleeves, the assembly including a retaining spine extending along an edge of the assembly.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
25 words
An assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the sleeves are attached to a non-heat-recoverable support (9) to restrain heat-recovery of the sleeves under heat-treatment.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
28 words
An assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein the support (9) is a polymeric strip and the sleeves are bonded thereto at the positions of the sleeve-forming bonds.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
21 words
An assembly as claimed in claim 3 having a plurality of the said sleeves bonded to each surface of the support.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
23 words
An assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the sleeves (4,12) are formed by a pair of superimposed longitudinally expanded polymeric sheets (1a,1b,8a-8d).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
29 words
An assembly as claimed in claim 5, wherein one of the sheets is wider than the other so that an edge of the wider sheet provides the retaining spine.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
23 words
An assembly as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein indexing slots or apertures are provided in the retaining spine.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
30 words
An assembly as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the sleeves have a wall thickness in the range of from 0.01 to 3mm prior to heat-recovery.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
25 words
An assembly as claimed in claim 8, wherein the sleeves have a wall thickness in the range of from 0.1 to 1mm prior to heat-recovery.
