Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 59 words
A method of producing amorphous metallic material, characterised by the steps of irradiating metallic material (1) with an electron beam (2) having an energy sufficient to damage the metallic material so as to Introduce a lattice defect into the material (1), and controlling the concentration of the introduced lattice defect to obtain an amorphous phase having a desired irregularity.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 59 words
A method of producing amorphous metallic material, characterised by the steps of irradiating metallic material (1) with an electron beam (2) having an energy sufficient to damage the metallic material so as to Introduce a lattice defect into the material (1), and controlling the concentration of the introduced lattice defect to obtain an amorphous phase having a desired irregularity.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 61 words
A method as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the density of the electron beam (2) utilised is kept at a value greater than a critical value determined by the metallic material and in that the irradiating temperature is controlled to a temperature less than a critical temperature determined by the density of the electron beam and the metallic material.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 47 words
A method according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the energy of the electron beam (2) is sufficient to introduce lattice defects into a surface layer of the irradiated material (1) to produce an amorphous metallic material surface layer on the metallic material being irradiated.
Claim 5
Independent Claim 20 words
A method as claimed in any one of claims .1-3, characterised in that metallic material (1) is an intermetallic compound.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 54 words
A method as claimed in claim 4, characterised in that the intermetallic compound is NiTi, Fe 2 Ti, Zr 2 AI, CuZr, Cu 3 Ti 2 , C 02 Ti, V 3 Si, CuTi, Cu 10 Zr 7 , Zr 2 Ni, Nb 7 Ni 6 , MoNi, Mn 2 Ti or iron-zirconium compound.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 16 words
Amorphous metallic material produced according to the method of any one of claims 1 to 5.
