Abstract

Abstract A water-proof connector having a sealing ring (30) in the connection between a male connector housing (20,20a,20b) having a male connector (21) and a female connector housing (10) having a female connector (11) is disclosed. An engaging mechanism (26A,26B,50A,50B,60A,60B) holds the sealing ring (30) on the male connector housing. The insertion or separation of the male connector housing (20,20a,20b) and the female connector housing (10) is facilitated and the water-proof effect is improved.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 142 words
1 A water-proof connector comprising a sealing ring (30) in the coupling between a female connector housing (10,10a,10b) having a female connector (11) and a male connector housing (20,20a,20b) having a male connector (21), wherein said sealing ring (30) includes a cylindrical portion (31) and an engaging portion (32), said cylindrical portion (31) including annular protrusions (35A,35B; 36A,36B), said engaging portion (32) including at least two engaging protrusions (37A,37B; 37A',37B'), sealing ring stopper slots (26A,26B; 50A,50B; 60A,608) being formed in a peripheral wall (25) of said male connector housing for receiving the engaging protrusions of said sealing ring, said engaging protrusions of said sealing ring being engaged with said sealing ring stopper slots of said female connector housing while said female connector housing is inserted into said male connector housing, thereby pressing said annular protrusions of said sealing ring for waterproofing purposes.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 142 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 33 words
2 A water-proof connector as claimed in claim 1, in which said engaging portion (32) of said sealing ring (30) has an engaging structure with a sloped surface of progressively increased thickness outward.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 51 words
3 A water-proof connector as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, further comprising an engaging structure including a coupling rim forming a sharp edge between said peripheral wall and said sealing ring stopper slots in said sealing ring stopper slots formed in the peripheral wall of said male connector housing.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
4 A water-proof connector as claimed in any preceding claim, in which said sealing ring (30) is formed of a material subject to deformation under pressure.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 19 words
5 A water-proof connector as claimed in claim 4, in which said sealing ring (30) is formed of rubber.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 23 words
6 A water-proof connector as claimed in any preceding claim, in which said male connector housing is coupled with a lamp socket (40).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 50 words
7 A water-proof connector as claimed in any preceding claim, in which said male connector housing includes cover plates (51A,51B) for covering the rims of said engaging protrusions of said sealing ring (30) in engaged position on the outside of said sealing ring stopper slots of said male connector housing.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 38 words
8 A water-proof connector as claimed in claim 7, in which the width of said sealing ring stopper slots is larger than the width of said engaging portion of said sealing ring along the direction of connector insertion.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 28 words
9 A water-proof connector as claimed in claim 7, further comprising protective plates on the longitudinal ends of said sealing ring stopper slots of said male connector housing.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 40 words
10 A water-proof connector as claimed in any preceding claim, further comprising thin tongues (61A,61B) extending from the base of said male connector housing including the male connector unit inward of said sealing ring inserted into said male connector housing.
