Claim 1
Independent Claim
117 words
A multi-colour display device comprising: a first substrate (1); a second substrate (5) spaced apart from said first substrate (1); a display material (7) disposed between the first substrate (1) and the second substrate (5); a plurality of display electrodes (2) provided on an inner surface of said first substrate (1); a counter electrode (4) provided on an inner surface of said second substrate (5); and a plurality of different colour filters (3) disposed on said plurality of display electrodes (2) characterised in that the colour filters (3) contain electro-conductive particles whereby a drive voltage fed to said display electrodes (2) is applied via said colour filters (3) to said display material (7) substantially without voltage drop.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
117 words
A process of fabricating a multi-colour display device characterised by comprising the steps of: forming a plurality of display electrodes (2) on a first substrate (1); selectively forming a colour filter (3) on each display electrode (2) by electrodepositing a polymer together with colouring matter and electro-conductive particles so that the display electrodes (2) have different colours; forming a counter electrode (4) on a surface of a second substrate (5); and disposing a display material (7) between said first substrate (1) and said second substrate (5), said display material (7) serving, in operation, as a light shutter controlled by the voltage applied between said colour filters (3) via said display electrode (2) and the counter electrode (4).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim

Claim 5
Dependent Claim
33 words
A process as claimed in claim 2 characterised in that said electro-conductive particles are any one or more of tin oxide, indium oxide, antimony oxide, zinc oxide, cadmium oxide, gold, silver and nickel.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
30 words
A process as claimed in claim 2 or 3 characterised in that said polymer has an anionic deposition characteristic and is electrolytically deposited on said display electrodes by anodic electrolysis.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
51 words
A process as claimed in claim 4 characterised in that said polymer is an acrylic resin containing carboxyl groups or a polyester resin containing carboxyl groups these neutralized by alkali and made water-soluble or made of a mixture of water soluble melamine resin and said acrylic resin or said polyester resin.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
28 words
A process as claimed in any of claims 2 to 5 characterised in that said colouring matter is a dye which is barely soluble or insoluble in water.
