Abstract

Abstract Not only IC card (A) but also RAM pack (G) made in the card plate form although thicker than that may be applied to the device of invention to be coupled with computer for reading and writing. It has one board (10) for holding such external storage card and the other board (20) mounted with block member (31) planted with contact pins (32) via a coiled spring (33) so as to yieldingly movable so that when said two boards are in engaged position said contact pins may reliably contact with corresponding contact points of said loaded card. Such compact and easily operational device may be corporated in portable computer to expand scope of jobs to be made at the site.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 127 words
Device to be coupled with a computer for reading and writing IC external storage in the form of a card having a plurality of contact points, characterized by comprising a first board for holding said storage card and a second board mounted with a block member provided with contact pins of the number and arrangement corresponding to that of said contact points, said two boards being adapted to be relatively movable between the first position wherein said two boards are engaged together so that said contact points of the storage card may respectively contact with said contact pins and the second position wherein said two boards are separated with each other so that said storage card may freely be loaded on and removed from said first board.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 127 words
Device to be coupled with a computer for reading and writing IC external storage in the form of a card having a plurality of contact points, characterized by comprising a first board for holding said storage card and a second board mounted with a block member provided with contact pins of the number and arrangement corresponding to that of said contact points, said two boards being adapted to be relatively movable between the first position wherein said two boards are engaged together so that said contact points of the storage card may respectively contact with said contact pins and the second position wherein said two boards are separated with each other so that said storage card may freely be loaded on and removed from said first board.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 106 words
Device as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that said first board has an additional board so as to provide a pocket therebetween, said additional board having a window formed therein and a spring means fixed thereon so that the storage card of various thickness may be inserted with pushing said spring means away and firmly held with being urged thereby against said first board and so that said contact points of the storage card may contact with said contact pins planted on the block member of the second board protruded through said window when said first and second boards are brought in the first position.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 36 words
Device as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that said contact pin block member is mounted on said second board via a coiled spring so as to normally keep its upright position but be yieldingly movable.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 41 words
Device as claimed in Claim 3, characterized in that each of the contact pins is planted in the block member in such a way that the contact pin is yieldingly movable in its axial direction by vertue of a spring means.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 36 words
Device as claimed in Claim 2, characterized in that said two boards are hingedly engaged at the rear edges thereof so as to be pivotally movable between said two positions at an angle of about 60°.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 82 words
Device as claimed in Claim 3, characterized in that said contact pin block member is provided with a pair of transversely protruded arms to be respectively guided along opposite vertical grooves, each formed in an upstanding flange provided on the second board so as to normally keep upright position but be yieldingly tiltable substantially towards said rear edges of the two boards in the initial stage of contact of the loaded external storage plate with the contact pins of the block member.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 74 words
Device as claimed in Claim 2, characterized in that said two boards are hingedly engaged at the rear edges thereof so as to be pivotally movable between said two positions and that there is provided an upstanding flange, of which top portion is trimmed off to form an inwardly slanted surface, at the front edge of said second board so as to shift the insufficiently loaded external storage card back to the correct position.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 60 words
Device as claimed in Claim 4, characterized in that said first board has a pad of porous elastomer embedded therein so that when said first board without holding any external storage card is brought in said first position relative to the second board said contact pins of the yieldingly movable block member are rubbed by said pad to be clean.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 37 words
Device as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that said first board has an window for confirming whether or not the external storage card is correctly positioned and identifying the sort of the loaded external storage card.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 44 words
Device as claimed in Claim 1, characterized in that there is a limit switch closed when the first board is completely engaged with the second board and operates to make the.computer ready for reading out of the loaded external storage card and writing therein.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 28 words
11: A portable computer comprising at least a central processing unit and means for inputting and outputting, characterized by incorporating the device claimed in Claims 1 to 10.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 48 words
A portable computer claimed in Claim 11, characterized in that a display panel as one of said outputting means is hinged so as to pivotally movable between the open position where images shown on the panel are readable and the closed position where said device is covered thereby.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 49 words
A portable computer claimed in Claim 12, characterized in that a knob for controlling said images is formed with a peripheral groove so as to engage with a click member provided in the casing to be in normally elastically contracted position for locking the panel in the closed position.
