Abstract

Abstract Disclosed is a laminated photosensitive material for the electrophotography, which comprises an electroconductive substrate (1), a charge-generating layer (2) composed of a vacuum deposition film of metal-free phthalocyanine formed on the substrate and a charge-transporting layer (3) formed on the charge-generating layer, wherein the metal-free phthalocyanine film is a metal-free phthalocyanine particle layer composed mainly of a-type fine crystals having a crystal particle size of 100 to 2000 A and the vacuum deposition film has a thickness of 500 to 3000 A and a dark electroconductivity lower than 10-'° (Ω-cm) -1 . In this laminated photosensitive material, the initial charge quantity is improved, and the electro-photographic characteristics are stabilized when the photosensitive materials is used repeatedly or continuously.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 75 words
A laminated photosensitive material for electrophotography, which comprises an electroconductive substrate, a charge-generating layer composed of metal-free phthalocyanine on the substrate and a charge-transporting layer on the charge-generating layer, wherein the charge-generating layer is a metal-free phthalocyanine particle layer composed mainly of α-type fine crystals having a crystal particle size of 100 to 2000 Å and has a thickness of 500 to 3000 Å and a dark electroconductivity lower than 10 -10 (Ω-cm) -1 .
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 75 words
A laminated photosensitive material for electrophotography, which comprises an electroconductive substrate, a charge-generating layer composed of metal-free phthalocyanine on the substrate and a charge-transporting layer on the charge-generating layer, wherein the charge-generating layer is a metal-free phthalocyanine particle layer composed mainly of α-type fine crystals having a crystal particle size of 100 to 2000 Å and has a thickness of 500 to 3000 Å and a dark electroconductivity lower than 10 -10 (Ω-cm) -1 .
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
A photosensitive material as claimed in claim 1 wherein the a-form crystals of metal-free phthalocyanine have a particle size of 200 to 1000 Å.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 21 words
A photosensitive material as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 having a charge retention ratio V5/V1 of at least 99%.
Claim 5

A photosensitive material as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3 wherein the charge-transporting layer is from 1 to 30 pm thick.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 74 words
A process for the production of a laminated photosensitive material as defined in any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein metal-free phthalocyanine is vacuum-deposited in a thickness of 500 to 3000 Å on an electroconductive substrate maintained at a relatively low temperature and the vacuum deposition film so formed is contacted with an aromatic organic solvent for a time sufficient to grow a-form crystals having a particle size of 100 to 2000 Å.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 24 words
A process as claimed in claim 5 wherein the vacuum deposition film is contacted with aromatic organic solvent for from 25 to 40 hours.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 24 words
A process as claimed in claim 5 or claim 6 wherein the vacuum deposition film is contacted with aromatic organic solvent at room temperature.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 25 words
A process as claimed in any one of claims 5 to 7 wherein the aromatic organic solvent is selected from benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene or xylene.
