Abstract

Abstract Aqueous bleaching compositions can be satisfactorily coloured by inclusion therein of a coloured polymer latex which consists of a copolymer of a hydrophobic monomer with a reactive copolymerisable monomer containing a chromophore. These coloured polymer latices are particularly suitable for colouring hypochlorite-containing bleaching compositions.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 57 words
A coloured aqueous bleaching 4 gent comprising an oxygen or chlorine bleaching agent and a colouring agent in an aqueous medium, characterised in that the composition comprises from 0.0005-10% by weight of a colouring agent which is a coloured polymer latex consisting of a copolymer of a hydrophobic monomer with a reactive copolymerisable monomer containing a chromophore.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 57 words
A coloured aqueous bleaching 4 gent comprising an oxygen or chlorine bleaching agent and a colouring agent in an aqueous medium, characterised in that the composition comprises from 0.0005-10% by weight of a colouring agent which is a coloured polymer latex consisting of a copolymer of a hydrophobic monomer with a reactive copolymerisable monomer containing a chromophore.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 21 words
A composition according to claim 1, characterised in that the hydrophobic monomer is capable of undergoing an emulsion or suspension polymerisation.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 32 words
A composition according to claim 2, characterised in that the hydrophobic monomer is styrene or C l -C 4 alkylstyrene or a monohalogenated styrene, an acrylate or a methacrylate or a vinylester.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 20 words
A composition according to claim 1, characterised in that the reactive copolymerisable group of the chromophore contains an olefinic link.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
A composition according to claim 4, characterised in that the reactive copolymerisable group of the chromophore is a vinyl or isopropenyl group.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 33 words
A composition according to any of the claims 1-5, characterised in that the coloured polymer latex is a copolymer of a reactive copolymerisable derivative of an amino- or hydroxyl group-containing dye, with styrene.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 19 words
A composition according to any of the claims 1-6, characterised in that the composition contains an alkali metal hypochlorite.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 15 words
A composition according to claim 7, characterised in that the composition is a thickened composition.
