Quaternary ammonium compounds, their preparation and their use as disinfecting agents
Abstract
Abstract Quaternary ammonium compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which R<1> and R<2> are identical or different and represent an alkyl radical having 8 to 12 C atoms; R<3> is an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 C atoms, and A<-> is an anion of a carboxylic acid from the group comprising acetic acid, propionic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, tartronic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, maleic acid and fumaric acid; furthermore x is an integer or fraction in the range from 1 to 2, and a process for their preparation are described. The compounds are suitable as disinfectants, in particular for those baths which are in contact with metallic items.
