Abstract

Abstract A control system with a microprocessor (14) controls an output pressure of a water/air pump (50) and a light amount of a light source lamp (48) in an endoscope. Under control of a program, the microprocessor (14) periodically accesses a decoder (22) to periodically generate a pulse signal. The generated pulse signal is appliedto a watch dog type detector (32, 38) for detecting an abnormal operation of the microprocessor (14). When the microprocessor (14) operates abnormally and is detected, the microprocessor (14) is reset, and an output pressure of a water/air pump (50) and a light amount of a light source lamp (48) are respectively set at the maximum levels independently of the control by the microprocessor (14).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim 125 words
A control system with a microprocessor comprising: means (22, 30, 32, 38) for detecting an abnormal operation of the microprocessor (14) and resetting the microprocessor (14) unpon detection of the abnormal operation; means (54) for controlling a device under control (48, 50) according to the output signal of the microprocessor (14); first display means (44) for displaying an operating state of the device under control (48, 50); and second display means (42) for displaying an abnormal operation of the microprocessor (14) upon detection of the abnormal operation, characterized in that said control means (54) places the device under control (48, 50) in a specific operating condition and said first display means (44) is placed in a specific operating state upon detection of the abnormal operation.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 125 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 99 words
A control system with a microprocessor according to claim 1, characterized in that said detecting means (22, 30, 32, 38) includes a decoder (22) controlled by the microprocessor (14) so as to periodically produce a pulse signal, a first monostable multivibrator (32) triggered by the output signal of said decoder (22), and a second monostable multivibrator (38) triggered by the output signal of said first monostable multivibrator (32) and having a time constant longer than that of said first monostable multivibrator (32), the output signal of said second monostable multivibrator (38) being used as an abnormal operation detecting signal.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 25 words
A control system with a microprocessor according to claim 1, characterized in that said first display means is deenergized upon detection of the abnormal operation.
