Abstract

Abstract A three or four terminal noise filter and a method of making the same are disclosed. A pair of conductive bands (6, 9) are wound in a spiral manner with a thin insulating separator (11) therebetween. One (6) of the conductive bands (6, 9) is made of either electrically or electromagnetically conductive foil to form an inductance between terminals (7, 8) coupled to both ends of such foil (6) and also providing capacitance distributed over the entire length between the foil, and the other conductive band (9) is made of electromagnetically conductive foil such as an iron foil. The noise filter can be made essentially in the same manner and using essentially the same facilities as for conventional tubular capacitors.

A noise filter comprising a pair of electrically conductive foils (6, 9) wound in a spiral manner with insulating separators (11) therebetween having at least three terminals (7, 8, 10) connected to both ends of one (6) of said conductive foils and to somewhere of the other conductive foil (9), characterized by the use of an electromagnetically conductive material for at least said other conductive foil (9).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 19 words
The noise filter in accordance with claim 1 wherein said other conductive foil is made of an iron foil.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
The noise filter in accordance with claim 1 wherein said electromagnetically conductive foil (9) is wider than said one conductive foil (6).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 22 words
The noise filter in accordance with claim 1 wherein said noise filter has an essentially tubular form with an oval cross section.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
The noise filter in accordance with claim 1 wherein said both conductive foils (6, 9) are made of an electromagnetically conductive material.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 78 words
A method of making a noise filter comprising the steps of: - laminating an electrically conductive film (6) having a lead wire (7) at one end, an insulative film (11), an electromagnetically conductive film (9) and another insulative film (11); - winding said lamination in a spiral manner around a core; - connecting another lead wire (8) to the other end of said electromagnetically conductive film (6); and - coating the entire filter assembly with a protective material.
Claim 8
Independent Claim 78 words
A method of making a noise filter comprising the steps of: - laminating an electrically conductive film (6) having a lead wire (7) at one end, an insulative film (11), an electromagnetically conductive film (9) and another insulative film (11); - winding said lamination in a spiral manner around a core; - connecting another lead wire (8) to the other end of said electromagnetically conductive film (6); and - coating the entire filter assembly with a protective material.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 30 words
The method of making the noise filter in accordance with claim 6 further including the step of pressing said wound lamination in an oval cross section before said coating step.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 25 words
The method of making the noise filter in accordance with claim 6, wherein said both conductive films (6, 9) are of an electromagnetically conductive material.
