Abstract

The working cylinder has a cylinder tube (10) in which a piston with a piston rod (25) is guided. In a housing part attached to the cylinder tube, two guide rods (18, 18 ') running parallel to the cylinder tube are slidably guided. These are connected at one end by a yoke (19) and via a compensating coupling (40) to the piston rod and the yoke (19). There is a hydraulically or pneumatically actuated braking device (24) on the housing, by means of which the piston rod can be clamped in any position via an eccentric ring (26). The position is predetermined by a code (20) on the piston rod (18) and a scanning device (21) which is operatively connected to electronics (22). If the piston rod is to be moved into a certain position, the electronics send a signal to a control valve (23), which now controls pressure medium to the braking device (24) and a piston (30) arranged there releases the brake. The piston rod then moves into a predetermined position. When this is reached, the electronics are activated again via the sensor (21) and the valve is set so that no more pressure medium flows to the braking device. Now a compression spring (34) brings the eccentric brake into effect, so that the piston rod is tightened.
