Abstract
Abstract The prosthesis has a diaphyseal tail section (1) with a small collar (2) and a ribbed end pin (3) which is 3 cm long. This tail section forms a male section, while the female section is a head (4) with a cylindrical bore (5), the female section being equal in length to the male section. An intermediate section may be added. The prosthesis is made of steel, titanium or a composite of carbonate bio-materials and my be porous or non-porous. A rectangular section with rounded edges, of at least 7mm, gives a better fit when rotated, reducing cement needed and breakage risk.
