Abstract
Abstract Copy finishing apparatus for collecting sheets into sets comprises a compiler tray (62) for compiling sheets delivered serially thereto into sets and a stacking tray (100) arranged beneath the compiler tray (62) for receiving and stacking sets from the compiler tray (62). A transport (76) conveys sheets around an inversion or direction reversing path between the trays.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim
60 words
Copy finishing apparatus comprising a first support surface (62) for compiling sheets delivered serially thereto into sets, a second support surface (100) arranged underneath said first support surface (62) for receiving and stacking sets from said first support surface (62), and transport means (76) for conveying sheets around an inversion or direction reversing path between said support surfaces (62, 100).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
26 words
Copy finishing apparatus according to claim 1 in which one or both of said support surfaces (62, 100) is arranged at an angle to the horizontal.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
25 words
Copy finishing apparatus according to claim 2 in which the compiling surface (62) is arranged at an angle of 35-45°, preferably 40 to the horizontal.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
45 words
Copy finishing apparatus according to claim 2 or 3 in which the compiling surface (62) slopes downwardly towards an end registration stop (69) at the lower end thereof, said registration stop (69) being retractable for conveying a compiled set to the second support surface (100).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
28 words
Copy finishing apparatus according to claim 4 including means (71) for corner registering sheets on said compiling surface against said end (69) and a side registration stop (70).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
69 words
Copy finishing apparatus according to claim 4 or 5 including means (68) for conveying sheets onto the compiling surface in a first direction over said registration means (71), said support surface sloping (62) downwardly in the opposite direction towards said end registration stop (69) whereby sheets delivered onto said surface (62) beyond said registration means (71) in said one direction will move under gravity beneath said registration means (71).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
48 words
Copy finishing apparatus according to claim 4, 5 or 6, in which both surfaces (62, 100) slope in the same direction and the transport (76) extends between the lower end of the first surface (62) and a position spaced above the lower end of the second surface (100).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
19 words
Copy finishing apparatus according to any preceding claim including means (72) for binding sets on said compiling surface (62).
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
23 words
Copy finishing apparatus according to any preceding claim including a path (62) for single sheets extending directly to the second support surface (100).
