Abstract

Abstract A portable power tool for cutting branches of the type that has a rotary cutting blade (12) operatively mounted to the front end of an elongated rigid tubular member (11) and driven by a light-weight engine (13) connected directly or indirectly to the rear end of the rigid tubular member (11), comprising a first guide member (29) having a front bottom guide surface (29a) and a second guide member (32) having a rear bottom guide surface (32a) and a pair of side guide surfaces (32b), wherein both of the guide surfaces (29a, 32a) extend substantially in a plane where the bottom surface (12a) of the cutting blade lies, so that the cutting blade can be properly positioned with respect to a branch to be cut and also to a body surface of the tree.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 167 words
A portable power tool for cutting branches, comprising a rotary cutting blade (12) operatively mounted to a front end of an elongated rigid tubular member (11), and a light-weight engine (13) directly or indirectly connected to a rear end of said member (11) to drive said blade (12). through power transmission means (14, 15, 16, 18), characterized in that a first guide member (29) has its part disposed closely along a front side of a circular marginal edge of the cutting blade (12), and a second guide member (32) has its front part disposd adjacent a rear side of said circular marginal edge, said first guide member having a bottom guide surface (29a) circumferentially extending substantially in a plane (P) where a bottom surface (12a) of said blade (12) lies, said second guide member having a bottom guide surface (32a) extending from front to rear substantially in said plane (P) and also a pair of side guide surfaces (32b) each extending substantially rectilineally from front to rear.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 167 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 45 words
The tool according to Claim 1, characterized in that said first guide member (29) is fixedly supported by a gear casing (17) mounted to the front end of said tubular member (11) and said second guide member (32) is fixedly supported by said tubular member.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 32 words
The tool according to Claims 1 or 2, characterized in that said first guide member (29) has a flat cover portion (29c) extending in parallel relation with respect to said plane (P).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
The tool according to Claim 3, characterized in that at least one substantially semi-circular recess (31) is formed in a rear side of said portion (29c).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 21 words
The tool according to Claims 1 or 2, characterized in that said first guide member (29) is formed of bar material.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 24 words
The tool according to Claims 1 or 2, characterized in that said second guide member (32) is in the form of a rectangular plate.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 23 words
The tool according to Claims 1 or 2, characterized in that said second guide member (32) includes at least one elongated bar material.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 63 words
The tool according to any one of the preceding Claims, characterized in that a third guide member (34) is interposed between said first and said second guide members (29, 32) and said third guide member (34) has a bottom surface (34a) disposed very close to a top surface (12b) of said cutting blade (12) and extending in parallel relation with said surface (12b).
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 37 words
The tool according to Claim 8, characterized in that said third guide member (34) has a pair of side guide surfaces (34b) lying in extensions of said side guide surfaces (32b) of the second guide member (32).
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 27 words
The tool according to Claim 1, characterized in that said cutting blade (12) has a central dent (23) formed therewith for receiving a clamp nut (25) therein.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 40 words
The tool according to Claim I, characterized in that a mounting block (26) is fixedly mounted to the top surface (12b) of said cutting blade (12) and a driven shaft (18) of the tool is connected to said mounting block.
