Abstract

Abstract A new pin for oral implantoprosthesis is described which can be constructed in various forms, but in all cases is characterised by comprising two separate elements which are fitted together at the moment of the endo-osseous implantation. The pin when in its assembled form is characterised by comprising in its endo-osseous part two frusto-conical segments, namely an upwardly flared upper segment which provides for the retention of the pin in the compact bone region, and a downwardly flared lower segment which provides for retention of the pin in the cancellous bone region.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 18
Claim 1
Independent Claim 70 words
A universal autonomous pin for oral implantoprosthesis, characterised by comprising two separate elements which are fitted together at the moment of endo-osseous implantation, and become fixed securely to the bone by means of a double taper, namely a pre-existing upwardly flared upper taper which becomes retained in the compact bone, and a downwardly flared lower taper which becomes formed during the fitting-together, and which is retained in the cencellcus bone.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 70 words
A universal autonomous pin for oral implantoprosthesis, characterised by comprising two separate elements which are fitted together at the moment of endo-osseous implantation, and become fixed securely to the bone by means of a double taper, namely a pre-existing upwardly flared upper taper which becomes retained in the compact bone, and a downwardly flared lower taper which becomes formed during the fitting-together, and which is retained in the cencellcus bone.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 58 words
A pin as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first element is arranged for insertion into a suitable hole provided in the bone and remains totally embedded therein, and the second element is arranged for insertion into the first to create the lower taper while leaving its upper part emerging to constitute the fixing point for the prosthesis.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 67 words
A pin as claimed in claims 1 and 2, wherein the first element is hollow and comprises an upper frusto-conical part of which the outer and inner walls are inclined either to the same or different extent, a central cylindrical part with its outer and inner walls parallel., and a lower part which is .externally cylindrical and internally conical and traversed by two mutually orthogonal through slots.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
A pin as claimed in claim 3, wherein the first element comprises an upper rim arranged to rest on the bone to form a "seal" thereon.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 18 words
A pin as claimed in claim 3, wherein the first element has its inner terminal conical part threaded.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 106 words
A pin as claimed in claim 3, wherein the second element is solid, and comprises a frusto-conical head arranged to form a fixing for the prosthesis, a frusto-conical neck for retention in the gingiva, and a body having an upper frusto-conical part, a central cylindrical part of profile identical to the inner profile of the corresponding parts of the first element so as to mate therewith, and a lower cylindrical part arranged for forced insertion into the lower part of the first element in order to cause the four constituent sections of this latter to withdraw from each other so as to create a new taper.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 37 words
A pin as claimed in claims 3 and 4, wherein the lower diameter of the neck of the second element is such as to mate with the rim of the first element, to form a seal therewith.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 19 words
A pin as claimed in claims 3 and 5, wherein the second element has its lower cylindrical part threaded.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 41 words
A pin as claimed in claim 6, wherein the neck of the second element comprises in its upper part a groove which is made especially concave in such a manner as to form a seal on the gingiva, to prevent infiltration.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 25 words
A pin as claimed in claim 6, wherein the terminal part of the' second element projects slightly from the terminal part of the first element.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 36 words
A pin as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first element is solid and is in the form of a wedge of trapezoidal cross-section terminating in a rounded base in the form of a spherical cap.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 84 words
A pin as claimed in claim 11, wherein the second element comprises a frusto-conical head arranged to form a fixing for the prosthesis, a frusto-conical neck arranged for retention in the gingiva and in the bone, and a body comprising an upwardly flared frusto-conical upper part and a cylindrical lower part `` traversed over its entire length by a slot arranged for mounting over the first wedge-shaped element in such a manner as to widen outwards to assume a frusto-conical profile of oval cross-section.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 27 words
A pin as claimed in claim 11, wherein the second element comprises in its terminal part a groove in which the fibrous and osseous tissues can reconstitute.
Claim 15
Independent Claim 66 words
A method for implanting the universal pin as claimed in claims 1 and 2, characterised by forming in the maxilla or mandible a hole into which the first element is totally embedded, and then inserting the second element into the first in such a manner as to create in the terminal part of the pin a frusto-conical flare which ensures its fixing in the cancellous bone.
Claim 16
Independent Claim 76 words
A method for implanting the universal pin as claimed in claims 1 and 11, characterised by forming in the maxilla or mandible a hole into which the first element is introduced by way of its spherical cap-shaped terminal part while its other end carries the second element held thereon by simple contact, said second element then being forced on to the first in order to widen outwards until it assumes a frusto-conical profile of oval cross-section.
Claim 17
Independent Claim 108 words
A device for providing the second pin element with its required inclination, constituted essentially by a frame which on one of its sides carries a goniometer disposed in a plane perpendicular thereto, and further carries adjacent to that side which is opposite and parallel to the first a block comprising a central bore having a profile complementary to the profile of the second pin element, which can thus be totally inserted therein to emerge only by way of its head and neck, which are then suitably inclined along the two main orthogonal directions by means of a suitable socket lever by following the information provided by the goniometer.
Claim 18
Independent Claim 108 words
A device for providing the second pin element with its required inclination, constituted essentially by a frame which on one of its sides carries a goniometer disposed in a plane perpendicular thereto, and further carries adjacent to that side which is opposite and parallel to the first a block comprising a central bore having a profile complementary to the profile of the second pin element, which can thus be totally inserted therein to emerge only by way of its head and neck, which are then suitably inclined along the two main orthogonal directions by means of a suitable socket lever by following the information provided by the goniometer.
