Abstract

Ultrasound imaging system with a linear array (2) of a plurality of transducer elements (12), each of which a group of jointly controlled transducer elements (12) form a beam aperture and to which a transmission system (30) and a reception system (40) are assigned. According to the invention, a delay time is digitally set for each transducer element (12) of the beam aperture and triggered with the aid of a start pulse, and only one group of the transducer elements (12) of the linear array (2) is always active, each with the transmitter switch (10) Transmission system (30) and in each case via receiver switches (11) in series with a wiring arrangement (6) with the reception system (40). An ultrasound imaging system for high ultrasound frequencies, in particular at least about 30 MHz, is thus implemented, in which the use of a switching matrix in the transmission and reception system is avoided.
