Abstract

A fuel injection device for air-compressing, self-igniting internal combustion engines is proposed, in which at least one electromagnetic control valve 11 is provided, via which a high-pressure channel 8 of a fuel injection pump 1 can be connected to a low-pressure channel 15, the control valve 11 being designed as a piston valve 12 and provided by a spring 13 has loaded valve body which is axially movable in a housing space 19 provided with at least one high-pressure connection 22 and one low-pressure connection 21 and is operatively connected to an electromagnetic actuating device 14 which can preferably be controlled by an electrically working measured value processing device. Here, according to the invention, the high-pressure side spool area 17 of the electromagnetic control valve 11, which is delimited by a valve seat 16, constantly has the diameter of the valve seat 16, and the low-pressure side spool area 18 is formed with a smaller diameter than the high-pressure side spool area 17. A high-pressure side and a low-pressure side housing space chamber 20, 21 are preferably assigned to the end faces of the piston slide 12, the entire housing space 19 being sealed against high pressure and the high-pressure side and low-pressure side housing space chambers 20, 21 being connectable by at least one line 25. The fuel injection device according to the invention is characterized by an extremely stable behavior of the control valve and an absolute tightness in the closed position of the spool 12, so that the fuel injection device is functional even at the highest injection pressures.
