Total Claims: 3
Claim 1
Independent Claim
117 words
A data processing system capable of operating under the control of a plurality of operating systems, data being manipulated by each operating system under the control of descriptors having a format distinctive to the operating system, characterized by apparatus (26) for producing a descriptor format compatible with the descriptor formats of each of the operating systems, comprising: an input unit (511) which stores the operating system descriptors; a control unit (510) which receives instruction execution codes, and includes apparatus (629-630-634) for determining a format for each of the operating system descriptors; and a reconfiguration unit (513) which changes the operating system descriptors into descriptors having said compatible descriptor format in response to signal from the control unit.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
44 words
A system according to Claim 1, characterized by a descriptor master copy unit (514) which includes a copy of descriptors in a descriptor stack (802) of a data processing system addressing mechanism, the descriptor copies being utilized in relocating descriptors in the descriptor stack.
