Abstract

Abstract A packaged pressure-sensitive adhesive bandage is provided which can easily be opened to present the bandage ready for use and which is capable of being manufactured inexpensively in great quantities. The bandage is sandwiched between two facing sheets which in turn are adhered to outer wrapping sheets. By selectively choosing the degree of tenacity between the adherence of the facing sheets to the bandage, as contrasted with the adherence of the facing sheets to the wrapping sheets, upon peelably removing the wrapper from the package, the facing sheets will disengage from the bandage and remain adhered to the wrapper and may be discarded therewith. The bandage is thereby presented ready for use.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 172 words
A packaged pressure sensitive adhesive bandage wherein said bandage comprises a flexible, planar backing having one surface thereof coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive; said bandage being folded upon itself about a transverse fold line to form a folded bandage with pressure sensitive adhesive coating on each of its external major surfaces; said folded bandage being sandwiched between facing sheets to form a faced folded bandage, said facing sheets adhering to said pressure sensitive adhesive; said faced folded bandage being enclosed by a wrapper with portions of the inside surfaces of said wrapper overlying said facing sheets; sealing means adhering said portions of the inside surface of said wrapper to said facing sheets, said sealing means providing more tenacity between said portions and said facing sheets than the tenacity of the adhesive between said facing sheets and said folded bandage; whereby, when said package is opened by removing said wrapper, said facing sheets will disengage from said folded bandage and remain adhered to said wrapper, thereby presenting said bandage ready for use.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 172 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
The packaged bandage of claim 1 wherein said sealing means comprise an adhesive layer between said portions of said wrapper and said facing sheets.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 37 words
The packaged bandage of claim 1 wherein said sealing means comprise a cohesive layer on said portions of said wrapper cooperating with a cohesive layer on said facing sheets to adhere said facing sheets to said wrapper.
Claim 5

The packaged bandage of claim 1 wherein said sealing means comprise a heat sealed coating between said portions of said wrapper and said facing sheets. anyone of to 4
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 48 words
The packaged bandage of/ claim 1/ wherein said wrapper comprises two pan 1s sandwiching said faced folded bandage therebetween, said panels having peripheral portions extending beyond at least a portion of the periphery of said faced folded bandage, said peripheral portions being sealed together to enclose said bandage.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 19 words
The packaged bandage of claim 5 wherein said peripheral portions are sealed together by a peelable seal. 5 or
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 30 words
The packaged bandage of claim/6 wherein said peripheral portions extend beyond at least one transverse edge of said folded bandage and are provided with tabs for peeling said seal apart.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 18 words
The packaged bandage of claim 5 wherein said peripheral portions are sealed with a heat sealed layer therebetween.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 202 words
A packaged pressure sensitive adhesive bandage wherein said bandage comprises a flexible, planar backing having one surface thereof coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive; said bandage being folded upon itself about a transverse fold line to form a folded bandage with pressure sensitive adhesive coating on each of its external major surfaces; said folded bandage being sandwiched between facing sheets to form a faced folded bandage, said facing sheets adhering to said pressure sensitive adhesive; said faced folded bandage being sandwiched between two wrapping sheets with portions of the inside surfaces of said wrapping sheets overlying said facing sheets; sealing means adhering said portions of the inside surfaces of said wrapping sheets to said facing sheets, said sealing means providing more tenacity between said portions and said facing sheets than the tenacity of the adherence between said facing sheets and said folded bandage; peripheral portions of said wrapping sheets extending beyond the periphery of said faced folded bandage, said peripheral portions of said wrapping sheets being peelably sealed together; whereby, when said package is opened by peeling apart said wrapping sheets, said facing sheets will disengage from said folded bandage and-remain adhered to said wrapper thereby presenting said bandage ready for use.
