Claim 1
Independent Claim 116 words
An oral composition in the form of a mouthwash, liquid dentifrice, or toothpaste characterised by: a) from 0% to 70%, of a dental abrasive selected from calcium pyrophosphate, insoluble metaphosphates, alumina, thermosetting polymerized resins and silica; b) an amount of a fluoride ion source sufficient to supply from 50ppm to 3500ppm of fluoride ions; c) an amount of a pyrophosphate salt selected from dialkali metal and mixtures of dialkali metal and tetraalkali metal pyrophosphate salts sufficient to provide at least 1.5% P 2 O 7 -4 ; and d) water; wherein the pH of the composition is from 6.0 to 10.0 and the composition contains no more than 4.0% K 4 P 2 O 7 .
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 116 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 23 words
An oral composition according to Claim 1 in the form of a toothpaste characterized in that the abrasive is a silica dental abrasive.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 17 words
An-oral composition according to Claim 2 characterised in addition by from 0.1% to 1.0% of a binder.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
An oral composition according to any of Claims 1 to 3 characterised in that sodium fluoride is the fluoride ion source.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 29 words
An oral composition according to any of Claims 1 to 4 characterised in that the pyrophosphate ion is provided by a mixture of disodium pyrophosphate and tetra sodium pyrophosphate.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 30 words
An oral composition according to any of Claims 1 to 4 characterised in that the pyrophosphate ion is provided by a mixture of disodium pyrophosphate, tetrasodium pyrophosphate and tetrapotassium pyrophosphate.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 29 words
An oral composition according to any of Claims 1 to 6 which in addition contains up to 10% of a sudsing agent and/or up to 70% of a humectant.
