Abstract A process for producing an ion exchange membrane comprises stretching a film of a fluorinated ion exchange resin containing uniformly dispersed fluoropolymer fibrils, at a temperature lower by from 50 to 250°C than To of the fluorinated ion exchange resin, where T 0 is a temperature at which the fluorinated ion exchange resin has a volumetric flow rate of 100 mm 3 /sec.
