Closure for a container
Abstract
A sealing cap (1) for closing a container mouth (2) has a sealing lip (5) which is arranged on the cap base (4). The inner wall (7) of the sealing lip (5) has a diameter (A) which is larger than the outer diameter (B) of the outer container wall (8). A tensioning device, which can be designed as an inner seal (13), causes the cap base (4) to contract when the closure cap (1) is screwed onto the container, as a result of which the sealing lip (5) is pressed against the container mouth (8). In this way, the sealing lip (5) is only pressed radially onto the container mouth (2) in the course of the screwing-on process. This prevents overstretching and material damage to the sealing lip (5).
