Abstract

Abstract In a magnetic recording and reproducing device having at least one rotating magnetic head for recording and reproducing video signal and digital form audio signal in a contiguous manner along each track which is inclined at an angle relative to the direction of travel of a magnetic tape, a discrimination signal is combined to the digital form audio signal. The discrimination signal has a first section carrying a check code and a second section carrying information. During the reproducing mode, the discrimination signal is detected such that the information carried in the second section is made invalid when the check code has a predetermined code pattern, and the information carried in the second section is made valid when the check code has a code pattern other than the predetermined code pattern. Furthermore, the check code is used to indicate the type of information contained in the second section.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 165 words
In a magnetic recording and reproducing device having at least one rotating magnetic head for recording and reproducing video signal and digital signal in a contiguous manner along each track which is inclined at an angle relative to the direction of travel of a magnetic tape, said magnetic recording and reproducing device comprising: means (7) for generating, during a recording mode, a discrimination signal having a first section carrying a check code and a second section carrying information; means (8) for combining, during a recording mode, said discrimination signal in said digital signal; means (14) for separating, during a reproducing mode, said discrimination signal from said digital signal; means (16) for detecting, during a reproducing mode, said discrimination signal such that the information carried in said second section is made invalid when said check code has a predetermined code pattern, and the information carried in said second section is made valid when said check code has a code pattern other than said predetermined code pattern.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 165 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 33 words
A magnetic recording and reproducing device as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said check code is defined by at least one binary signal, and wherein said predetermined code pattern is identical to "0".
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 31 words
A magnetic recording and reproducing device as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said detecting means detects the type of information contained in said discrimination signal by the use of check code.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 87 words
In a magnetic recording and reproducing device having at least one rotating magnetic head for recording and reproducing video signal and digital signal in a contiguous manner along each track which is inclined at an angle relative to the direction of travel of a magnetic tape, said magnetic recording and reproducing device comprising: means (7) for generating, during a recording mode, a discrimination signal having a section carrying a check code; and means (8) for combining, during a recording mode, said discrimination signal in said digital signal.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 87 words
In a magnetic recording and reproducing device having at least one rotating magnetic head for recording and reproducing video signal and digital signal in a contiguous manner along each track which is inclined at an angle relative to the direction of travel of a magnetic tape, said magnetic recording and reproducing device comprising: means (7) for generating, during a recording mode, a discrimination signal having a section carrying a check code; and means (8) for combining, during a recording mode, said discrimination signal in said digital signal.
