Abstract

Abstract It comprises a length of webbing (1) secured in the vehicle to extend generally upright in the region of the shoulder of the user of the system, and a connector (10) having a running loop (18,31) for the belt (21) integrally formed therewith or secured thereto and movable to a selected position along the webbing (1). The webbing (1) extends through a slot (16) in the connector (10) and reverses its direction around fixed and movable transverse bars (resp. 17,15) of the connector (10) between which the webbing (1) is snubbed to securely hold the connector (10) in the selected position.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 70 words
An adjustable anchorage for a seat belt, the anchorage comprising an elongate flexible member, securement means for securing the flexible member to extend between spaced securement positions, and a connector device having means for connection with the belt and being engaged with the flexible member for sliding therealong to a selected position by means of two generally parallel elements about each of which the flexible member substantially reverses its direction.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 70 words
An adjustable anchorage for a seat belt, the anchorage comprising an elongate flexible member, securement means for securing the flexible member to extend between spaced securement positions, and a connector device having means for connection with the belt and being engaged with the flexible member for sliding therealong to a selected position by means of two generally parallel elements about each of which the flexible member substantially reverses its direction.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 43 words
An adjustable anchorage as claimed in claim 1 wherein at least one of the elements is mounted for movement on the connector device so as to enhance engagement between the device and the flexible member in response to tension in the seat belt.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 30 words
An adjustable anchorage as claimed in claim 2 wherein the movement of the at least one movable element is such as to snub the flexible member between the two elements.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 40 words
An adjustable anchorage as claimed in claim 2 or 3 wherein the at least one-movable element has a manually engageable portion for movement on the device in a direction to release the engagement between the device and the flexible member.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 39 words
An adjustable anchorage as claimed in claim 2, 3 or 4 wherein the connector device has opposed side walls joined by one of the transverse elements and having aligned slots guiding the other transverse element for sliding movement therein.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 43 words
An adjustable anchorage as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the connector device comprises a channel of which the centre web is slotted to define one of the elements and to provide an aperture below the elements through which the flexible member extends.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 38 words
An adjustable anchorage as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the belt connection means is a separable part of the connector device and is connected thereto by means interchangeable with the securement means for securing to flexible member.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 85 words
An adjustable anchorage for a seat belt, the anchorage comprising an elongate flexible member, securement means for securing the flexible member to extend between spaced securement positions, a connector device having secured thereto means for connection with the belt, the connector device being engaged with the flexible member for sliding therealong to a selected position, and the belt connection means being secured to the connector device by means permitting the belt connection means to be secured at at least one of the spaced securement positions.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 85 words
An adjustable anchorage for a seat belt, the anchorage comprising an elongate flexible member, securement means for securing the flexible member to extend between spaced securement positions, a connector device having secured thereto means for connection with the belt, the connector device being engaged with the flexible member for sliding therealong to a selected position, and the belt connection means being secured to the connector device by means permitting the belt connection means to be secured at at least one of the spaced securement positions.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 35 words
An adjustable anchorage as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the flexible member extends generally upright in the region of the shoulder of an occupant of a vehicle seat with which the belt is associated.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 41 words
An adjustable anchorage as claimed in claim 9 wherein the belt connection means comprises a running loop to which the belt can extend upwardly from a retractor and from which the belt can extend downwardly across the chest of the user.
