Abstract

Abstract The invention relates to an absorbent product, such as a sanitary napkin, comprising a fluid-impermeable layer (1) and a fluid-permeable layer (2) as well as a core (3) of absorbent material layer therebetween. Characteristic for such a product according to the invention is that at least the fluid-impermeable outer layer (1) extends somewhat beyond the two longitudinal side edges of the absorbent core (3) with portions (4,5) in which elastic means (6,7) are arranged spaced from the core (3) and pulling together these portions, which are thereby raised and form barriers against lateral leakage from the product.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 161 words
Absorbent product, such as a sanitary napkin, comprising an absorbent body (3) and a jacket enclosing said body, said jacket comprising a fluid-permeable layer (2) located closest to the user when in use and a fluid-impermeable layer (1) disposed on the opposite side, the back, of the absorbent body, characterized in that at least the fluid-impermeable outer layer (1) extends somewhat outside the two longitudinal lateral edges of the absorbent body (3) with portions (4,5) in which two long elastic means (6,7) are disposed essentially in the longitudinal direction of the product, each of said means being located, at least in the midportion of the product, at such a distance from the lateral edge of the absorbent body, that at least the midportion of the portion in question (4,5) is contracted and raised in the direction towards the fluid-permeable layer (2) on the front of the product and in its raised position serves as a barrier against lateral leakage of fluid.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 161 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 31 words
Absorbent product according to Claim 1, characterized in that the two jacket layers (1,2) extend outside the lateral edges of the absorbent body (3) and are joined to each other there.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 27 words
Absorbent product according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the elastic means (6,7) consists of elastic strings or the like which are mounted under tension.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
Absorbent product according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the elastic means (6,7) consists of hot melt, which becomes permanently elastic only after heating.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 82 words
Absorbent product according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the elastic means converge towards one end of the napkin and run in over the absorbent body between the middle of the napkin and said one end on the side of the absorbent body which is in contact with the fluid-permeable layer, whereby the elastic means, at least in the midportion of the napkin, pull the two outer layer portions towards the fluid-permeable layer on the front of the napkin.
