Abstract
Abstract A photographic film assemblage including a film spool about which is wound a length of film, a housing for rotatably supporting the film spool such that a leading end of the film may be advanced to the exterior of the housing through a withdrawal opening in the housing, and means for protecting the film from exposure by light passing through the passageway. The passageway is constructed such that rotation of the film spool relative to the housing, in a given direction, is all that is needed to move the leading end of the film out of the housing through the passageway.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
107 words
A photographic film assemblage comprising: a film spool; a strip of photographic film coiled about the film spool, the film having a leading end configured for attachment to a film advance apparatus; means for protecting the film from exposure to light; characterized by a housing (12; 12') for rotatably supporting the film spool (14; 14') and the film 16; 16'), the housing (12) including means defining a passageway (26; 26') through which the leading end (68; 68') of the film (16; 16') may be freely advanced to the outside of the housing (12; 12') by rotating the film spool (14; 14') relative to the housing (12; 12').
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
42 words
The photographic film assemblage defined in claim 1 wherein the exposure protecting means comprises a sheet of opaque material (70) secured in overlying relation to at least the entire length of an outer convolution of the film (16) on said spool (14).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
50 words
The photographic film assemblage defined in claim 2 wherein the exposure protecting means further comprises a pair of collars (54, 56; 54', 56') located on the film spool (14; 14') the collars being spaced from each other by a distance substantially equal to the width of the film (16; 16').
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
47 words
The photographic film assemblage defined in claim 3 wherein the exposure protecting means further includes an annular flange (58, 60; 58' 60') extending inwardly from the periphery of each of the collars (54, 56; 54', 56') into overlying relation with the edges of the film (16; 16').
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
