Apparatus for joining fibres together and method of putting it into use
Abstract
Abstract 1. Apparatus for joining at least one first optical fibre and one second optical fibre, comprising a support (1) serving as a reference surface and comprising a V-shaped groove (2) adapted to receive said fibres in an abutting relationship, the apparatus further comprising means for positioning said fibres in the groove, which include a resiliently deformable central region and a not resiliently deformable peripheral region permitting to fixedly connect the positioning means to the support by fixing means, the peripheral region (8) serving as abutment when it is being fixed, characterized in that the positioning means are comprised of a resilient buckle comprising a central block (7') provided with seats (13) receiving a resiliently deformable plate (10') and disposed such that the latter be cambered for maintaining the optical fibres in place under the action of a resilient force of a predetermined value.
