Abstract
Abstract An electrical connector in the form of a pin (20) having spaced compliant sections (24, 25) for electrical connection with plated through holes (18) in printed circuit boards (10, 12). The orientation of each compliant section (24, 25) is such that it engages a virgin area of each plated through hole (18) when coming to rest therein thereby forming excellent electrical and mechanical connections between the compliant sections (24, 25) and respective plated through holes (18).

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim
71 words
An electrical connector in the form of a pin (20) having spaced compliant sections (24, 25) for electrical connection with aligned plated through holes (18) in adjacent spaced printed circuit boards (10, 12) characterized in that: the orientation of said compliant sections (24, 25) is different for each such that each of said compliant sections (24, 25) engages a virgin area of each plated through hole (18) when electrically connected therein.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
32 words
An electrical connector as set forth in claim 1 characterized in that each compliant section (24, 25) comprises legs (32, 34) extending outwardly in opposite directions on each side of a plane.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
76 words
An electrical connector as set forth in claim 2 characterized in that said legs (32, 34) of one of said compliant sections (24) extend - outwardly in opposite directions from a plane extending through an axis of said connector while the legs (32, 34) of another (25) of said compliant sections also extend outwardly in opposite directions from said plane but opposite to the directions the legs of said one of said compliant sections (24) extend.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
89 words
An electrical connector as set forth in claim 2 characterized in that notches (28) are located in said connector adjacent the outermost compliant section (25) and an extension (26) extends outwardly from said notches (28), said extension (26) defining a guide member for guiding the connector through the aligned plated through holes (18), for assisting in positioning the compliant sections (24, 25) in their respective plated through holes (18), for making electrical connections thereto or being broken at said notches (28) to free said extension (26) from said connector.
