Abstract

Abstract isclosed is a papermaker's felt comprising a woven three-layered base fabric construction (1, 5, 10, 15, 20) and a non-woven batting material (25). The bottom layer (15, 20) of the base fabric is made from coarse yarns with large diameters and the top two layers (1, 5,10) of fine yarns with smaller diameters. There are fewer yarns in the bottom layer (15, 20) of the base fabric than in either of the top two layers (1, 5, 10).

Claim 1
Independent Claim 126 words
A papermaker's felt comprising: a non-woven batting material (25); and a woven three-layered base fabric comprising: a bottom layer of cross-machine direction (15) and machine direction yarns (20); a middle layer (5,10) of fine yarns which has a higher crossmachine direction and machine direction yarn count than the bottom layer and in which the cross-machine direction and machine direction yarn diameters are smaller than the diameters of the crossmachine direction and machine direction yarns in the bottom layer; and a top layer of fine yarns (1) which uses the same cross-machine direction yarn (5) as the middle layer and which has the same or higher machine direction yarn count than the middle layer and the same or smaller machine direction yarn diameters than the middle layer.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 126 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 28 words
The papermaker's felt according to claim 1 wherein the non-woven batting material (25) is needled to the top two layers (5, 10) of the woven three-layered base fabric.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 28 words
The papermaker's felt according to claim 1 or 2 wherein the crossmachine direction yarn (5) in the upper two layers interlaces the two top fabric layers (1, 10).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 42 words
The papermaker's felt according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein the bottom layer (15, 20) is connected to the middle layer by interlacing of the bottom crossmachine direction yarn (15) around the middle machine direction yarn (10) at various intervals.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 31 words
The papermaker's felt according to any of claims 1 to 4, wherein the bottom layer (15, 20) contains eight yarns per inch in both the machine direction and the cross-machine direction.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 44 words
The papermaker's felt according to any of claims 1 to 5, wherein there are at least twice as many machine direction and cross-machine direction yarns per inch in either of the upper layers (1, 10) as there are in the bottom layer (15, 20).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 27 words
The papermaker's felt according to any of claims 1 to 6, wherein the cross-machine direction yarn (5) interlacing the two top fabric layers (1,10) is a monofilament.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 28 words
The papermaker's felt according to any of claims 1 to 7, wherein the cross-machine direction yarn (5) interlacing the two top fabric layers (1,10) is a twisted monofilament.
