Cette couche plus résistante a de préférence des propriétés thermoplastiques et est une pellicule préfabriquée. Lorsque la couche (1) de la matière plastique très molle est unie des deux côtés à une couche thermoplastique (2, 3) plus résistante, la feuille intercalaire stratifiée ainsi obtenue peut être unie moyennant un apport de chaleur et de pression à deux feuilles de verre ou de matière plastique pour former un vitrage feuilleté. La couche faite de la matière plastique très molle est de préférence le produit de réaction d'un composant polyol polyfonctionnel et d'un composant isocyanate polyfonctionnel, un excès important du composant polyol étant prévu.
