Abstract

Abstract Disclosed hereunder is a method of speech recognition which is characterized in that; it executes the final matching operation for each characteristic pattern according to the preliminarily selected order prior to the final matching, where any further calculation in reference to such a characteristic pattern is not executed after a specific condition has been satisfied during the matching calculation, and as result, calculation requirements can be drastically minimized so that the speech recognition can eventually be implemented at higher speed and yet under a sharply reduced cost.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 148 words
(1) A method of speech recognition by which a parameter correlative to the similarity of characteristic pattern of a speech to be recognized to the characteristic patterns of a plurality of the preliminarily registered speeches is calculated in the final matching operation, where said method comprises steps for; executing the final recognition of speeches in reference to the parameter corresponding to each of the calculated characteristic patterns, executing preliminary matching operation in advance of the final matching operation, and also preliminarily selecting out of the characteristic patterns of said plural speeches at least more than one of the speech characterized pattern in order of presumably in the closest position to the correlative similarity, calculating said parameter of each characteristic pattern according to the preliminarily selected order, and when a specific condition is satisfied during said calculation, any further calculation is not executed with regard to said characteristic pattern.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 31 words
(2) A method of speech recognition according to the claim 1, wherein said specific condition is determined by the threshold level represented by parameter and the result of calculating said parameter,
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 40 words
(3) A method of speech recognition according to the claim 2, wherein said parameter is the one representing the similarity, while said specific condition corresponds to such a case when the result of said calculation is below said threshold level.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 41 words
(4) A method of speech recognition according to the claim 2, wherein said parameter is the one representing the matching error, while said specific condition corresponds to such a case when the result of said calculation is above said threshold level.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 41 words
(5) A method of speech recognition according to either the claim 1 or claim 4, wherein said threshold level is obtained according to the parameter which has already completed a calculation needed to be executed according to said preliminarily selected order.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 78 words
(6) A method of speech recognition, the method comprising performing a preliminary matching operation by comparing a speech pattern to be recognised with a plurality of registered speech patterns, and then performing a further matching operation by comparing said characteristic pattern with at least some of said registered patterns in order of similarity between the registered patterns and the pattern to be recognised, as determined by the preliminary matching operation, starting with the most closely similar registered pattern.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 75 words
(7) A method as claimed in claim 6, wherein, in the further matching operation, calculations are carried out progressively for each of the registered patterns in order to determine a value indicative of the similarity between that registered pattern and the pattern to be recognised, and wherein said calculations are prematurely terminated if they produce results bearing a predetermined relationship with a value previously calculated for a different registered pattern during said further matching operation.
