Dishwashing composition

Claim 1

A machine diswashing or rinsing composition being substantially free from anionic detergents and having a very low or zero phosphate content, which includes a nonionic detergent surfactant, a relatively low molecular weight polymer and an alkaline detergent material, characterized in that it comprises: - up to 5% by weight of a nonionic detergent surfactant, - from 5 to 50% by weight of a water-soluble calcium sequestering agent, - from 0.05 to 5% by weight of a polymeric material having an average molecular weight of between about 500 and about 3,000 and having in its molecular structure the group optionally together with the group in which R 1 is hydrogen or a hydroxyl group, R 2 is hydrogen, an alkyl or an alkenyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a carboxylic acid group or an acetoxy group, R 3 is hydrogen or an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R 4 is a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an aldehyde or a carboxylic acid group, Claim 1 (continued) the weight ratio between the sequestering agent and the polymer being between 1:1 and 100:1.
