Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim
56 words
A reinforcing member of the kind referred to comprising a plurality of layers each fabricated from steel or similar material and having a multiplicity of intertices therein, conjoined in superimposed relationship, the number and nature of the layers and the shape of the member being such that it is flexible in at least one longitudinal direction.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
14 words
A reinforcing member according to claim 1, in the form of a rectangular plank.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
13 words
A reinforcing member according to claim 1, in the form of a helix.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
30 words
A reinforcing member according to any preceding claim, wherein said layers are of two kinds, the first kind having relatively large interstices and the second kind having relatively small interstices.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
38 words
A reinforcing member according to claim 4, wherein the first kind of layer is comprised by an array of spaced parallel wires in each of two directions and welded together at the crossing points to form a mesh.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
22 words
A reinforcing member according to either claim 4 or claim 5, wherein the second kind of layer comprises a woven wire sheet.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
30 words
A reinforcing member according to any one of claims 4 to 6 inclusive, wherein the outer layers at least on both sides of the member are of the first kind.
Claim 9
Independent Claim
58 words
A method of producing a reinforcing member according to any preceding claim, comprising the steps of superimposing at least two layers, each fabricated from steel or similar material and having a multiplicity of interstices therein and folding the assembly along at least one longitudinal axis to produce a member having more layers than present before the folding operation.
Claim 10
Independent Claim
42 words
A method of providing a lining to a structure comprising the steps of securing at least one layer of reinforcing members according to any one of claims 1-7 inclusive, over the surface to be lined and embedding said members in a mortar.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
12 words
A method according to claim 9, wherein said structure comprises a sewer.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
40 words
A method according to claim 10, wherein the members are of plank-like form, there being two layers thereof, the members in one layer extending longitudinally of the sewer and the members in the other layers extending circumferentially of the sewer.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
27 words
A method according to claim 11, wherein the members in said other layer are of such length as to completely circumscribe the bore of the sewer. .
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
28 words
A method according to claim 10, wherein the members are in the form of helixes which are turned to open them out against the walls of the sewer.
Claim 15
Independent Claim
35 words
A method according to any one of claims 10 to 13 inclusive, wherein the sewer is brick built and at least some bricks are removed from the sewer so as to enlarge the bore thereof.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim
29 words
A method according to claim 10, wherein a cable shelf or trough is formed within the bore of the sewer at the top thereof and integrally with the lining.
