Abstract

Abstract An optical connector for optical fiber cables comprising two ferrules (11) respectively serving to hold end portions of two optical fibers (10) to be connected and a sleeve (12) with a longitudinal through hole (12a) having a cross sectional shape of regular hexagon and serving to insert the ferrules (11) thereto, the optical connector being arranged to connect the two optical fibers (10) by respectively inserting the two ferrules (11) to the sleeve (12) from both ends of the sleeve (12) so that the end portions of the two ferrules (11) contact each other in the inside of the sleeve (12) and also arranged that the ferrules (11) can be inserted easily and the ends of the two optical fibers (10) are connected properly.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 200 words
An optical connector for optical fiber cables comprising two ferrules (11) respectively serving to hold end portions of two optical fibers (10) to be connected, so that said end portions of said two optical fibers (10) are respectively held in positions on center lines of respective ferrules (11), and a sleeve (12, 12', 12") having a longitudinal through hole (12a, 12a', 12a") for inserting said ferrules (11) thereto, said optical connector for optical fiber cables being arranged that the outer surfaces of said ferrules (11) and inner surface of said sleeve (12, 12', 12") contact each other, when said ferrules (11) are inserted to said sleeve (12, 12', 12"), by at least three portions substantially regarded as straight lines in parallel with and at equal distance to the center line of said sleeve (12, 12', 12"), said optical connector for optical fiber cables being also arranged to connect said end portions of said two optical fibers (10) by inserting said two ferrules (11) respectively to said sleeve (12, 12', 12") from both ends of said sleeve (12, 12', 12") so that end portions of said two ferrules (11) contact each other in the inside of said sleeve (12, 12', 12").
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 200 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 51 words
An optical connector for optical fiber cables according to Claim 1 wherein said inner surface of said sleeve (12) is formed to have a cross sectional shape of a regular polygon and said outer surfaces of both of said two ferrules (11) are formed to have a circular cross sectional shape.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 30 words
An optical connector for optical fiber cables according to Claim 2 wherein said inner surface of said sleeve (12) is formed to have a cross sectional shape of regular hexagon.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 49 words
An optical connector for optical fiber cables according to Claim 1 wherein said inner surface of said sleeve is formed to have a circular cross sectional shape and said outer surfaces of both of said two ferrules are formed to have a cross sectional shape of a regular polygon.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 31 words
An optical connector for optical fiber cables according to Claim 4 wherein said outer surfaces of both of said ferrules are formed to have a cross sectional shape of regular hexagon.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 35 words
An optical connector for optical fiber cables according to Claim 1 wherein at least either of said inner surface of said sleeve (12") or said outer surfaces of said ferrules has longitudinal concave portions .(12"a).
