Multilayer plastic film suitable for garbage and trash bag

Claim 2

A multilayer film comprising a first outer layer of heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, and a second outer layer comprising high pressure, low density polyethylene.

Claim 3

A multilayer film as in claim 1 wherein said second outer layer comprises a blend of said polyethylene and heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer.

Claim 4

A multilayer film as in claim I or 2 wherein said first outer layer comprises more than one layer of said heterogeneous copolymers.

Claim 5

A multilayer film as in claim 3 including at least one colorant.

Claim 6

A multilayer film as in claim 1 or 2 wherein said copolymers have a melt index of between about 0.5 and about 5.0 decigrams per minute and a density of between about 0.91 and about 0.94 grams per cubic centimeter.

Claim 7

A multilayer film as in claim 1 or 2 wherein said copolymers have a melt index of between about 0.5 and about 2.0 decigrams per minute and a density of between about 0.926 and about 0.930 grams per cubic centimeter.

Claim 8

A multilayer film as in claim 1 or 2 wherein said first outer layer has a thickness of between about 50 percent and about 80 percent, and said second outer layer has a thickness of between about 20 percent and about 50 percent of the total thickness of said multilayer film.

Claim 9

A multilayer film as in claim 1 or 2 wherein the thickness of said multilayer film is between about 1 mil and about 3 mils.

Claim 10

A multilayer film as in claim 1 or 2 wherein said high pressure, low density polyethylene has a melt index of between about 0.5 and about 5.0 decigrams per minute and a density of between about 0.916 and 0.935 grams per cubic centimeter.

Claim 11

A multilayer film as in claim 1 or 2 wherein said heterogeneous copolymers are selected from the group consisting of ethylene-butene-hexene and ethylene-propylene-hexepe.

Claim 12

A multilayer film as in claim 1 or 2 wherein said film is formed into a bag.

Claim 13

A multilayer film comprising a first outer layer of a high pressure, low density polyethylene, a core layer of low pressure, low density gas phase heterogeneous ethylene copolymers formed frem ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, and a second outer layer comprising a high pressure, low density polyethylene.

Claim 14

A multilayer film comprising a first outer layer of a high pressure, low density polyethylene, a core layer of low pressure, low density gas phase heterogeneous ethylene copolymers formed frem ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, and a second outer layer comprising a high pressure, low density polyethylene.

Claim 15

A multilayer film as in claim 12 wherein said film is formed into a bag.

Claim 16

A multilayer film comprising a first layer of heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, a second layer comprising heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-I and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, and a third layer comprising high pressure, low density polyethylene.

Claim 17

A multilayer film comprising a first layer of heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, a second layer comprising heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-I and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, and a third layer comprising high pressure, low density polyethylene.

Claim 18

A multilayer film as in claim 14 wherein said third layer comprises a blend of said polyethylene and heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer.

Claim 19

A multilayer film as in claim 14 or 15 including at least one colorant.

Claim 20

A multilayer film as in claim 14 or 15 wherein said film is formed into a bag.

Claim 21

A multilayer film comprising a first outer layer comprising high pressure, low density polyethylene and a colorant, and a second outer layer comprising heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, a colorant, and high pressure, low density polyethylene.

Claim 22

A multilayer film comprising a first outer layer comprising high pressure, low density polyethylene and a colorant, and a second outer layer comprising heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, a colorant, and high pressure, low density polyethylene.

Claim 23

A multilayer film as in claim 18 wherein said film is formed into a bag.

Claim 24

A multilayer film comprising a first outer layer selected from high pressure, low density polyethylene or heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, a core layer selected from heterogeneons copolymers formed From ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, or a blend thereof with high pressure, low density polyethylene, and a second outer layer selected from high pressure, low density polyethylene, or heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, or a blend thereof.

Claim 25

A multilayer film comprising a first outer layer selected from high pressure, low density polyethylene or heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, a core layer selected from heterogeneons copolymers formed From ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, or a blend thereof with high pressure, low density polyethylene, and a second outer layer selected from high pressure, low density polyethylene, or heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, or a blend thereof.

Claim 26

A multilayer film as in claim 20 wherein said film is formed into a bag.

Claim 27

A multilayer film comprising a first outer layer of high pressure, low density polyethylene, a core layer comprising heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, and a second outer layer comprising heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C S -C 8 comonomer.

Claim 28

A multilayer film comprising a first outer layer of high pressure, low density polyethylene, a core layer comprising heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, and a second outer layer comprising heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C S -C 8 comonomer.

Claim 29

A multilayer film as in claim 22, wherein said heterogeneous copolymers of said core layer and said second outer layer have different densities.

Claim 30

A multilayer film as in claim 22 wherein said heterogeneous copolymers of said core layer and said second outer layer have different melt indexes.

A multilayer film as in claim 22 wherein said film is formed into a bag.

Claim 32

A multilayer film comprising a first outer layer of high pressure, low density polyethylene, a co-e layer comprising one or more film layers wherein at least one of said film layers comprises heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, and a second outer layer comprising heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer.

Claim 33

A multilayer film comprising a first outer layer of high pressure, low density polyethylene, a co-e layer comprising one or more film layers wherein at least one of said film layers comprises heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer, and a second outer layer comprising heterogeneous copolymers formed from ethylene and at least one of propylene and butene-1 and at least one C 5 -C 8 comonomer.

Claim 34

A multilayer film as in claim 26 wherein said film is formed into a bag.
